Napier is a VBScript programmable, PocketPC calculator for scientific, financial, programmer, and time date applications. It has over 150 functions, 64 constants, 100 memories, 1000 entry data array, 8 graduated rate schedules, settable work day and holidays for time calculations. Neither RPN or classic algebraic, Napier is expression based and easy to use, keeps the last 10 expressions and answers for reuse, has help for all functions, and allows editing expressions, including unedit. Whenever a function is used, a brief description and the argument list is displayed, so there is no need to memorize how to use them. The result is that Napier combines very rich functionality with ease of learning and use. In addition, there is a freely downloadable 85 page manual with over 60 illustrations and examples. Napier supports VBScript programming to add functions for use in expressions and a VBScript Editor/Testing environment. All Napier functions as well as specific VBScript functions such as file system access are available in VBScript. 10 command expressions can be saved and reused. Similarly, any of the previous 10 answers can be recalled and reused, or put into one of the memories or appended to the dataset. The entire state or selected data can be saved and read. The data is in txt format and can be used with other programs. New constants can be added by using the built in Constants editor. Users don't have to remember Napier's functions, or what they've put in which memories, all functions, memories and saved commands are selected using dropdown lists, and memories can be named. Any function can be assigned to one of the 20 assignable keys on each of 4 key mappings (80 total). The 1000 entry data array is fully integrated into the overall functionality, with 28 functions covering financial and statistical uses. Expressions can be evaluated, and the results appended to the data array with one key tap. Results can be shown in 11 different display formats covering numeric, scientific, time and dates, and hexadecimal. There are both complex financial functions (IRR, PV, etc.) and easy to use and understand mortgage and loan calculations that don't require complex setup.
