How the manual is organized
This manual guide provides detailed information about the different
components of the product, its functions as well as instruction of
purchase and support.
Introduction of Lexisgoo
With experience from developing several products in the past such as
Mobitools and eDictionary Reader, we decided to create Lexisgoo with
the desire to contribute with a high quality product for the PDA
community.
The main database is edited by the latest version of WordNet from
Princeton University with more than 185,000 entries. Lexisgoo also
includes the following new features:

Installation for Pocket PC
Requirements: The product needs 17 MB of free space, but while
installing you must have 36 MB of free space as MS ActiveSync will
copy a CAB file to the device and then remove it once complete. You
need to have MS Active Sync Software on your device.
1. Unzip downloaded file to a folder with a zip tool. The popular unzip
program WinZip is available at www.winzip.com
2. Run setup and follow instructions
3. When finished, go to Start Menu>>Program, here you will see
the symbols of Lexisgoo and Lexisee
We recommend storing in the Storage Card when the installation asks
to select Main memory or Storage Card.
You can copy the CAB file to your device and run the CAB file
directly but it will automatically install the software to the main
memory.
Uninstallation
To remove the product from your Pocket PC:
1. Go to Start menu >> Settings
2. Open System and tap on Remove Programs
3. Select Lexisgoo English Dictionary from the list and tap on
the Remove button
4. Choose “Yes” to confirm removing

Components of Lexisgoo
The product includes two components:
Lexisgoo: The main module that allows you to search by word, by
fixed form, to listen to pronunciation or see related idioms
Lexisee: A module that enables you to search for words in other
applications such as Pocket IE, MS Reader and Pocket Word.
Lexistudy: This special today plug-in module can help you to
improve your vocabulary or prepare for exams.

Instruction of functions
Word search: to search a word, simply type it in the textbox (using
the standard build-in keyboard), tap on the button and the
meaning will appear. You also have the alternative of choosing the
word from the list-box. If you want to see the Keyword List, just tap
on the “Down-arrow” icon in the Word-Entry box
The keyboard will appear automatically when tapping on the Word-
Entry textbox. You can show/hide the keyboard by tapping on the
keyboard button in the toolbar.
Searching for related words: For each word on the screen a link
providing synonyms, antonyms and satellite word groups will be
available. Tap on the link to access the page with the different
categories. To see examples illustrating idiomatic usage, tap on the
button. (This is a function only found in Lexisgoo)
Advanced Search:
Pattern Search: In addition to searching by the regular method, with
Lexisgoo you can also search by pattern. For example:
• To search words including “tion”, you type {*tion*}
• The “?” mark stands for one character.
• The “*” mark stands for none or several characters.
On the main screen, tap on the button in the toolbar and then
select to facilitate the search. Type in the textbox and tap on
Anagram search: With this function
you can search for words built up by the
same letters. All letters from the “board”
box will be included, while only one letter
from the “rack” box will be included in
each word. You can sort the result alphabetical or by length. On the
main screen, tap on the button in the toolbar and select 2nd tab
Phonetic search: You can perform
sound-like searching by this function. On
advanced search function select 3rd tab

then you will see the screen as above.
Adding notes: With this utility, you can attach comments to the intask
word. On the main screen, tap on the icon and enter your
notes for the current in-task word, save notes by taping on the
button.
If a keyword contains a comment, the Notes Icon will change color
to . To remove your comments, just tap on the icon again, delete
all text and choose “Save”.
Audio Pronunciation & Reading text: Lexisgoo is the first program that
provides word pronunciation. After searching, tap on the button to
hear the audio pronunciation. From version 2.0 you can hear
pronunciation of all keywords and read out text from other
applications(see using lexisee for further information). Together with
the phonetic transcript feature, it can be a helpful function for
improving your pronunciation.
For the audio feature to work properly, please make sure that you
have activated sounds for Programs at Start menu >> Settings >>
Sounds & Notifications
Using favorites list: To add a word to the favorites list, just tap on the
button and then you can choose group that you want to place
selected keyword in, if you want to create
a new group just do Tap n Hold and you
will see the popup menu as beside then
choose “Add”.
To remove a word from the list, merely
tap on the button again.
Using history list: This is a list of the words previously looked up. At
present, the list is limited to 500 words and they are stored
automatically. To access the list, tap on the( )button. If you tap
on the back-arrow, you will get the most recent word.

If you want to remove a word from the
history list, just
“Tap N Hold” on the list then you can see
the pop-up menu as beside:
Grammar Handbook: This is a special feature from version 1.2.
The Grammar, Punctuation, and Capitalization Handbook can be a
useful assistant while writing. Here functions like checking irregular
verbs, verb form and misplaced adverbs are offered.
From version 2.0 you can create your own Grammar book by using
the Grammar Book Builder, our new freeware.
Menu Tools includes the following functions:

Preferences
This function will allow you to customize some features of this
application.
General:
The settings are accessible through
Tools>>Preferences… >>General
Enable voice: To activate the audio
pronunciation feature. You can also
adjust the volume of the voice (this is
an internal adjustment and will not
affect other applications)
Enable ClearType: If you want to
read text clearer then choose this
option.
Font family: Change font type in the
meaning view
Font size: Change font size in the meaning view
Study Assistant
Default Wordlist: choose the wordlist
you want to use for your study
assistant function.
Auto add: the number of words you
want to be automatically added to the
study-list each day.
Add Now: add the words to the
study-list.
Random/Sequential: add the words
to the study-list randomly or
sequentially.

Clear All: To clear the study list. All previous studied words will be
removed.
Lexisee
Auto Start: automatically start Lexisee when the device starts.
Approximate/Exact match: If this option is checked, the system
will search for words with similar spelling if no exact match is found.
If not checked, it will instead say “word not in word list!”
Auto attach to PW and PIE: If this option is checked then Lexisee
will work as a Pocket Word or Pocket Internet Explorer’s Component
Other
You can change word-type order in
definition view in here, just select
word-type and move up/down to
arrange its order. This feature is very
helpful for advanced learner.
You also can change the speed of
scrolling in the definition window.
Using Lexisee: To find words in other
applications such as MS Reader,
Mobipocket Reader, Pocket IE, Pocket Word and Notepad. Lexisgoo
provides you with the Lexisee module.
Special feature: Lexisee supports smart text selection of editable
objects and smart lookup word from Pocket IE(compatible with Multi
IE and Pocket Plus). For example, from Pocket Word, just move
the indicator to the word you want to lookup and then tap on
onto the Lexisee button to see the definition.
And If you turn-on “Smart
Lookup(IE)” feature then you can
lookup word in Pocket IE by tapping
on word instead of selecting and then
tap on Lexisee (see the beside picture

If you want to hear a long text read out, select the section you want
to hear, “Tap n Hold” on the Lexisee button and then choose menu

Study Assistant: This special feature can help you to improve your
vocabulary or prepare for exams.
You can setup the study assistant module from Tools>>
Preferences >> Study Assistant. You also can use the Lexisgoo
Today module for quick access; the chosen words will then
automatically be displayed on the today screen each day.
After you have seen the definition of a word, it will be moved to
the “studied word list” which contains all the previous words studied.
You can view these words from Study Report.
